Burda Wednesday: February 1959, part II - ..and three points to remember today!

Hello everybody

Today is April 6th, and Serbia marks the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Nazi German aggression against the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, which started on April 6, 1941.
On that day, the Nazi air force launched an intensive bombing campaign targeting Belgrade and several other towns in Serbia. The attack of Hitler’s Third Reich started without a declaration of war, despite the fact that the Yugoslav government had declared Belgrade “an open (undefended) city” several days earlier. The first bombs hit the city on Sunday morning, April 6, at 06:30 CET while most Belgraders were still asleep.
..so, please, let us give them a silent moment.

.........
May they all find their peace

Now, onto Burda fashion magazine:

Aside from my country's commemoration of the Nazi Aggression, I have a small celebration of my own; and it involves a particular dog:

On this day, one year ago
this beast was born.
I named her Šarka.. and she's gone huge! :)

.....

ALSO (there's more!) on this day, we (as part of the world) give out Penalty Cards - a White Card, to be exact.
Why?
At the UN headquarters in New York, on 23 August 2013, the UN General Assembly declared 6 April as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) – a decision that represented a historic step in recognizing the transformative power of sport and its great potential in advancing positive social change. This day is commemorated globally each year by international, regional, national sport and development organizations to honor the role that sport plays in society, whether by encouraging healthier lifestyles, making sport more widely accessible or using it as a vehicle for development in areas made vulnerable by conflict, poverty and inequality.

  1. Happy birthday to Sarka.

What a sad memory of the war, though. So many terrible events, so many people hurt.

    1. Thanks Mim.
Šarka is a truly majestic dog, a bit HUGE and "beastly", but a caring guardian of my home, so she's fully serving her purpose and earning her meals :)
..as for war remembrance; it is never an easy thing to post about. But, we should. We can't neglect the past.

  3. I am swooning over that red dress suit! Just gorgeous.

I don't think I've ever seen First Communion and Confirmation fashions in a magazine before.

What a big beautiful girl Sarka is! She looks like a great dog.

I love your outfit, especially how you wore gray tights with the black ankle boots.

    1. Dawn,
You're so kind to me. :)
I have swooned over dresses in this issue (but, once we reach the "spring" editions, we'll all faint from fashionable items!) :)
