Love Story: I hunted for Love

Hello everybody.

If you've been looking at some of the Instagram images I've posted lately, you've surely spotted a funny-looking twig with a poor excuse of a leaf on top if it. That, my dear friends will (I hope so) turn into a large flowering bush:

Mahonia aquifolium
(what mine is looking right now,
what it'll grow to be in spring - and what
it'll produce in the summer - hopefully)

It is an evergreen shrub growing to 1 m (3 ft) tall by 1.5 m (5 ft) wide, with pinnate leaves consisting of spiny leaflets, and dense clusters of yellow flowers in early spring, followed by dark bluish-black berries. The specific epithet aquifolium means "holly-leaved", referring to the spiny foliage.

The course in gardening is done - let's get back to the reason we're here: it's Sunday.. and I'm not giving up on our tradition. So, here's to love story...

I, for one, have never imagined a tiger popping-up in our Love Stories..
(my apologies to those of you who were affected by the
image of this dear creature being killed)

.
.
.

Oh, have I mention that mahonia's are
bee-friendly bushes? :)

I can't wait to see this image in front of my home.
I doubt anything will ever beat the sight of nature's generosity and ingenuity .

Have a great day.

One day - I will serve you tea.. for now:; just a poem.

Hello everybody.

With tea consumption on the rise, more and more tea drinkers want to know about tea and caffeine.
Here's a fact for you:
Many claim that green teas have less caffeine than oolong or black tea, and white tea has the least of all. Again, modern laboratory equipment is able to disprove this assumption. A majority of the teas that were analyzed contained around 55 mg of caffeine per seven-ounce cup, regardles the tea family.
Darjeeling black tea and Japanese sencha were almost equally caffeinated. But, one Chinese white tea yielded an astonishing 75 mg of caffeine, nearly as much as a extremely caffeine-rich Assam tea.
Most tea drinkers would suspect those results from a hearty Assam tea (Assamica tea bushes can be 33% higher in caffeine content than Chinese varieties), but few would think a white tea would have such high levels of caffeine. Several tea horticulturalists believe caffeine is more concentrated in the unopened tea leaf bud where it serves as a bitter deterrent to hungry insects

And, now, as I've promissed you, here's a little children's poem that I found, and it's just so simple and adorable to read, that I have decided to share it with all:

IN the pleasant green Garden
We sat down to tea;
“Do you take sugar?” and
“Do you take milk?”
She’d got a new gown on –
A smart one of silk.
We all were as happy
As happy could be,
On that bright Summer’s day
When she asked us to tea.

"The thing we call a tea would taste just as sweet if we called it by any other name." said Juliet, from the ink of our dear Mr. Shakespeare.
...
Well then.. have a great Friday!

Burda Wednesday: October 1957, part III

Hello everyone

These past few days we have had a lot of rain. Not much to do outside, and one can only sit in her room and make plans for lovelier times.
Rainy mid-week calls for a fashion-boost.

There is something soothing
about 1950s porcelain - it's simple and useful

So few of the ladies are blessed with amazing skin
the rest of us need some "help".

Never underestimate the fact that
your hands are something a lot of people look at
so keep 'em tidy

Minus: "pounds lighter"
...and her suit is wonderful.

Tips for Winter 1957-1958
(alas, I can't read this)

Absolutely breathtaking
exclusive model

I like the "small bites" recipes
they call out for cellebration. :)

My favorite pattern,
and apples (my favorite food)

I'm seriously thinking about adorning my future living room
with something similar to these

Burda "special edition"
(no, darlings - I do not have that one)

Sewing cours..
even images may be helpful.

"Nervous? Irritated?"
...aren't we all, at some times...

I hope your weather is better than mine
If not, at lest we get to see somethig "bright" on these pages. :)

Lady and the Landscape Gardening.

Hello everybody.

Ahhh - it's Friday.
This gives me a great joy of knowing there's a whole weekend in front of me, and the time to do many things (one can achieve a lot when properly organizing her time). The weather will not be great, some rain will surely fall upon us, but an indoor work awaited me for a while (since I always tend to postpone doing work indoor, when the sunshine is so glourious). :)

I'll be indoor, scraping ceiling and prepping it for a fresh paint (almost there!)... but you, my dear ladies and gents can get inspired by this chapter, and spend your time in designing nature.

I doubt my garden will ever look this amazing, to tell you the truth. Not only due to the size of it, but also due to the fact that my leisure time is not as nearly as long as I'd like it to be. :)
No matter, I believe that every fragment of green space is a gem on it's own.
..
Happy Friday!
