Homemade holiday: the Napkin-folding

Hello there!

One thing that is quintessentially festive is a perfect table setting - completed with an ellaborately folded napkins. As much as I understand the need of some fok to go and buy pre-folded dinner napkins (they have no time, they have no inspiration, they thing it's more simple OR they think it's important to have them all done perfectly) - I like to make my own art.

These four vintage pages include a wonderful variety of methods for folding serviettes. The pages are from Mrs. Beeton’s Book of Household Management.

Now, please.. don't you think these adorable folding-methods are going to get much more attention than the pre-folded factory-made ones? And, since there is still time until Christmas, you can practice, so you fold them perfectly when the times comes. :)

  1. Wow, these are seriously lovely! Origami for one's dining table and no doubt just as fun as the classic folded Japanese creations to make. As a child I remember being taught how to make a swan from a napkin, but it's probably been twenty or more years since I last created one, so I don't remember the precise technique. I should look it up again, have a go, and attempt some of the elegant styles this holiday season, too. Many thanks for the delightful inspiration, dear gal!
