Let's make a cake - cheap and easy recipe to brighten our day.


Hey there.

It's Monday.
Let me imagine you're in a similar situation like myself: drfiting within the first day of the work week, trying to find some way to keep that "weekend feel" last a bit longer.

Whern there's a will... There's a way.

When was the last time you baked from a addvertisment?!

It's as easy as 1..2..3.. and it takes only 4 eggs.

FIRST off, stir until smooth, then cool: 3/8 of a cup of boiling water and 1/4 cup cocoa.
Step 1.  
Measure and sift togeher in a mixing bowl: 3/4 cup flour, 7/8 cup of sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt (don't mind what "they" say - salt is important, especially in baking - it makes the cake tastes fuller).
Make a well in dry ingredients and add: 1/4 cup of cooking oil, 4 unbeaten egg yolks (medium size), 1/2 teaspoon vanila and 1/8 teaspoon of red food coloring (if you want to... hey, you can leave it out.. or try purple?! If you try purple, take a snap, and send it to me.. I'd love to see how it turned out) :)
Beat with spoon until smooth.
Step 2.
Measure into a large mixing bowl: 4 egg whites and 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar. (cream of tartar can be supstituted with 1 teaspoon of baking powder).
Whip until whites form very stiff peaks
Step 3.
Pour egg yolk mixture gradualy over egg whites - gently fold. Do not stir, just gently fold, to keep it (ahd here goes the word): fluffy. :) Pour into ungreased pan. 

Baking depends on a pan.
If you have 9inch (23 cm) round pan, bake on 325F (169°C) for 50 to 55 minutes. If you have 8x8 or 9x9 (20x20 or 23x23 cm) square pan, bake on 350F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes. And if you have 5x10 inch (12x25 cm) loaf pan - bake on 325F (169°C) for 50 to 55 minutes.

And, you can top it with one of these:
Whiped cream
Simple topping. Just whip until stiff.
Chocolate fluff
Mix together 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa and pinch of salt in a cold bowl. Beat toghether until stiff. 
Peanut crunch.
Fold 1/2 cup of chopped peanuts into 1 cup of heavy cream (whipped until stiff)



I hope you'll try it out. It's so simple to make, it takes so little of your time - but I'm sure it'll make a stunning and sweet addition to your day.
